MDGs Awareness Programmes
The Millennium development goals awareness programme is a three years (2010-2012) project which is focused at spreading awareness about the MDGs to local government leaders and the youth. It is funded by forum SYD in partnership with UNA Sweden, currently at its second phase the programme has proven to be a success in its implementation.
In Tanzania the programme is carried out in three sites, Dar es salaam, Pemba and Mwanza. We have been able to reach about 2000 students with basic MDGs information through various activities and managed to establish UN Clubs in Pemba and Mwanza.
The programme is designed to attain the objective of giving a good knowledge about the MDGs to youth especially those in secondary school and universities and local government leaders. We have a total of 24 local CSOs working with us in the programme.
