SHAIRI: UMASIKINI NA NJAA
UTANGULIZI
Kila wautajapo, kifo kunikumbuaha,
‘Kipato chetu cha chini, piza tutakula lini
Maisha yetu ni duni, sura hazina thamani
Baba haendi kazini ,walishampiga chini
Mama ni mjamzito, biashara ni kuuza kuni’
‘Shule wala hatusomi tunaokoteza jalalani
Upepo uvumao joshi, hutubakiza demani
Chakula wanapomwaga ,machozi hunidondoka
Jalalani kukitupa ,eti kimeharibika
Ndipu ninajiuliza,mbona kingi walipika
Kweli hawa si watu, wana mkono wa birika’
Nina mengi ya kusema ,ndipu wapi niyaseme
Umri wangu kikwazo hawataki ni ya nene
Wengi wenu mwasinzia, hawa shibe wale unene
Mbona mmetusahau,twataka tunone’
Watu wanataabika,njaa janga la maisha
Umaskini chanzo tosha,wao kuwadhorotesha
Beti saba zinatosha,amiri kuwafundisha
Hatakama mkibisha,nimekweisha tanabaisha.

ERADICATING EXTREME POVERTY AND HUNGER
Trying to capture the time, and portraying my theme,
By persuading the crime, of what is behind the scene.
Writing in news papers, and incessantly elaborated,
Spoken by lectures, as philosophy facilitated.
I shall try to be generous, by imposing the reality,
As some people are curious, due to extreme poverty.
The world millennium goal, as clearly initiated,
Has distinguished its role, and ways implemented.
Extreme poverty is non faction, and a sort of bureaucracy,
It creates contradiction, and a burden to democracy.
As stimulated by World Bank, living under one pound a day,
That is lowest rank, of paving your way.
Still some can’t afford, predicting of tomorrow,
Judging their pass code, if it is happiness or sorrow.
Moving to sub-Saharan Africa, existence of chronic poverty,
Together with South Asia, have lost liberty.
Most of the developing countries, have undertaken this disaster,
Their doors have no entries, of percolating the future.
It might sound as congenital, or a sort of confrontation,
It may be termed as genital, a way to unsustainable generation.
Converting stones to maize, is an endless dream to us,
Since we were raised, we were taught it’s a curse.
We are named “children of wars”, with no parents and relatives,
Interchanging mansions and cars that were their objectives.
We are directed to hunger, we are directed to pain,
Today a fishmonger and I can’t refrain.
No access to clean water, no access to education,
With such worry and laughter, we are set in detention.
Suffering from epidemic diseases, malaria, TB and HIV/AIDS,
So longer it increases, extreme poverty spreads.
Some joining gangs and sleeping on streets, with long term malnourishment,
Poor policies and laws retreats, leaders with no commitment.
I see high rate of illiteracy, with girl-slave in West Africa,
Things conducted in secrecy, grafting foreign aids from America.
Surrounded with poor-minded leaders, poor governance and sanitation,
I despise those traitors, the source of humiliation.
It’s time to lay a hand, with solidarity and unity,
It’s time to defend, eradicating hunger and extreme poverty.
Lets promote universal primary education, with proper maternal health,
Global partnership in production, and economizing our wealth.
Let’s maintain growth of our economy, and cultural mobilization,
Let’s maintain our autonomy, in protecting our generation.
Let’s promote cooperation, in combating corruption,
Let’s work with determination, on child rights convention.
Let’s promote equality, and combatment of HIV,
Let’s maintain the solidarity, for our generations to be free.
It might sound “Bad romance”, as Nicki Minaj said,
It’s a matter of “Good governance”, as Mr. Obama portrayed.
Let’s join hands across the world, just like R.Kelly did,
Let us be proud and accept each others deeds.
Let’s open the entries of resources to be accessible,
Extreme poverty to developing countries, eradicating is possible.
The first millennium goal, can easily be foreseen,
If we shall play our role, until 2015.
I am taking a deep breath, for everyone to realize,
With daily poverty deaths, just sit down and analyze.
My ink is almost low, though I wish to proceed the trend,
Hey! I better go, and here is where I end!!
“IF POVERTY IS A PLAY…..
DEVELOPING COUNTRIES ARE IN WHICH
EPISODE??”
